Elden Ring Nightreign Tips: Surviving the Multiplayer Extraction
Elden Ring Nightreign tips — character selection, night cycle strategy, extraction priorities, and how to survive From Software's multiplayer take on the Lands Between.
Elden Ring: Nightreign is From Software's cooperative multiplayer extraction game set in the Elden Ring universe. You and up to two other players drop into a condensed version of the Lands Between, fight through escalating night cycles, defeat a boss, and extract before time runs out. It's roguelike structure meets soulslike combat meets extraction game — a combination nobody expected from From Software.
The game assumes you already know how Elden Ring combat works. Here's what's specific to Nightreign.
The night cycle
Nightreign runs on a timer. Each night cycle escalates the world's difficulty — enemies get harder, environmental hazards intensify, and the map shrinks. Your job is to gear up during the early phases, find the boss, kill it, and extract before the final night consumes everything.
Early nights are for preparation. Loot weapons, upgrade materials, and consumables during the first cycles. Don't rush to the boss immediately — you'll be undergeared.
The map shrinks like a battle royale ring. The Nightreign fog closes in progressively. Don't spend too long in areas that will be consumed. Plan your route toward the boss arena as the fog approaches.
Night transitions spike difficulty. Each new night phase introduces harder enemies and environmental changes. If you're struggling with current enemies, you need better gear before the next phase — not more time in the current one.
Character selection
Nightreign features pre-built characters with unique abilities rather than full character creation. Each character has a playstyle that fills a team role.
Pick based on team composition. If your team has two melee characters, play ranged or support. Team diversity matters because the boss fights are balanced around multiple roles.
Learn one character deeply before switching. Each character has unique mechanics that reward mastery. Spreading your attention across multiple characters means mastering none.
Loot and upgrade priorities
Weapon upgrades are the primary power scaling. Finding upgrade materials and leveling your weapon is more important than finding a "better" weapon. A fully upgraded common weapon outperforms an un-upgraded rare one.
Consumables carry between encounters. Stock healing items, buff consumables, and throwables during exploration phases. Having 10 healing items vs 3 often determines boss outcomes.
Share loot with your team. If you find a weapon better suited to a teammate's character, drop it for them. Team strength > individual strength.
Boss fights
Communication is essential. Nightreign bosses have mechanics that require coordination — aggro management, positioning, and timing. Use voice chat or quick communication tools.
Stagger is the team damage multiplier. Coordinated attacks build stagger faster. When the boss staggers, everyone should unload their highest-damage abilities simultaneously.
Reviving teammates is priority one. A dead teammate means less damage, less aggro distribution, and higher chance of a wipe. Revive immediately when safe.
Learn the boss pool. Nightreign has a rotation of possible bosses. Each has different mechanics. Familiarity with all possible bosses gives you an advantage on every run.
Extraction
Don't celebrate early. Extraction has its own challenges. The path out can be contested, and the fog is still closing. Move to the extraction point as a team.
Failed extraction doesn't mean total loss. Nightreign has persistent progression elements. Even failed runs contribute to unlocks and character progression.
What we make at Choost
Granny's Rampage is single-player bullet heaven — different multiplayer angle from Nightreign but shared "escalating difficulty with run-based progression" structure.

The shortest version
Gear up during early night cycles — don't rush the boss. The map shrinks like a battle royale. Upgrade weapons over finding new ones. Share loot with teammates. Communicate during boss fights. Revive teammates immediately. Coordinate stagger for maximum damage windows. Extract as a team. Even failed runs provide progression.
