We Exist Now, Sorry

The obligatory first blog post where we explain who we are and why we're here. We kept it short.

So this is the part where a new game studio writes a blog post explaining who they are, why they're here, and what makes them different from every other two-person team with a dream and a Discord server. Cool. Here goes.

We're Choost Games. We make video games. Weird ones, hopefully. The kind where someone plays it and goes "huh" in a good way, not in an "I don't understand the controls" way. Though honestly, maybe both. We're keeping our options open.

Here's what we're not going to do. We're not going to spend three paragraphs telling you about our "passion for interactive entertainment" or our "commitment to pushing the boundaries of the medium." Nobody talks like that over a beer, and that's the energy we're going for. Beer energy. Conversations that actually go somewhere.

The truth is, we started Choost because we kept playing games that felt like they were designed by committee. Safe choices stacked on safe choices until the whole thing felt like a really well-optimized spreadsheet. Pretty. Smooth. Completely forgettable.

We want to make the other kind. The kind that sticks in your teeth a little. The kind you tell your friend about and they say "wait, really?" and then they play it too.

Right now we're small. That's on purpose. Small means every decision is intentional. There's no one in a meeting room asking us to add a battle pass. There's no investor who thinks our characters should be "more broadly appealing." The game is what it is because we wanted it that way. If it's weird, we meant it. If something feels off, that might also be on purpose. Hard to say.

We've got a few things cooking. We're not ready to show most of them yet because showing things too early is how you end up apologizing on Twitter for missing a deadline you never should've announced. We'd rather just show up with something finished and say "here, play this."

What we can tell you is this — expect card games, creature designs with way too much personality, and an overall vibe that sits somewhere between "this rules" and "I think this game just insulted me." That's the sweet spot.

If you want to keep up with what we're doing, you're already in the right place. We'll post here when we have something to say. No newsletter you'll forget you signed up for. No weekly content cadence that forces us to write blog posts about nothing. Just updates when there's something worth updating.

Welcome to Choost. We're glad you found us. Or sorry, depending on how things go.
